Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro is attracting serious interest from Egyptian giants Zamalek FC, as his time with the Buccaneers edges toward the end.
The Spanish tactician is expected to leave Pirates at the end of the season after a successful three-year stint that’s already seen him lift five trophies — with three more still on the table before he bows out.
Now, fresh reports suggest Zamalek is looking to pounce early and secure Riveiro’s services before other clubs make a move.
However, Riveiro isn’t rushing into anything. When approached by the Cairo-based side, the 48-year-old is said to have asked for patience, making it clear that his focus remains fully on finishing strong with Pirates.
“Zamalek want to wrap things up quickly and name their new coach before the season ends,” a source told Soccer Laduma. “But Riveiro responded respectfully, asking them to wait until he finishes his current mission in South Africa.”
Whether or not he joins Zamalek remains to be seen, but one thing’s clear — the Jose Riveiro era at Orlando Pirates isn’t over just yet, and the next few weeks could be legendary.
