Orlando Pirates are closing in on a three-year deal to sign Stellenbosch captain Sihle Nduli, who is set to replace veteran midfielder Miguel Timm. Nduli declined a contract extension from Stellenbosch, showing his eagerness for a fresh challenge. The midfielder almost joined Pirates in January, but high transfer fee demands from Stellenbosch blocked the move.

With Timm’s departure confirmed earlier this month after Pirates chose not to extend his contract, the club is acting quickly to bring in a strong midfield presence. Nduli is expected to play a crucial role under the new head coach as Pirates prepare for the upcoming season.

Nduli recently captained Stellenbosch in his final game, a goalless draw against Cape Town City. Stellenbosch coach Steve Barker expressed gratitude for Nduli’s professionalism and contribution during his time at the club.

Pirates had tried to sign Nduli in January, but negotiations stalled over the transfer fee. Now, with Nduli nearing the end of his contract, Pirates can secure him without paying a transfer fee, making this move more feasible.

This signing signals Pirates’ intent to strengthen their squad and build a competitive midfield ahead of the new season.
