Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates may find solace in the news that Mamelodi Sundowns’ star player, Lucas Ribeiro, is attracting interest from overseas clubs.
The 26-year-old forward has been in outstanding form this season, netting 13 goals in just 20 league matches. Ribeiro has consistently outperformed his competitors, making him a frontrunner for Player of the Season. In his encounters with Chiefs and Pirates, he has been a constant threat, scoring in most of those games.
While Ribeiro’s agent, A. Driss, confirmed the player’s satisfaction in South Africa, he also noted the growing number of clubs vying for his signature. “Right now, Lucas’ focus is on the CAF Champions League and the Club World Cup,” Driss said in an interview with iDiski Times. “Once those tournaments are over, we’ll reassess, but for now, he is fully committed to helping Sundowns succeed.”

Despite the increasing interest, Ribeiro remains dedicated to Sundowns’ success. “He’s happy at Sundowns,” Driss added. “His priority is to continue contributing to the team’s ambitions of winning the Champions League and performing well at the Club World Cup. His future is not his concern at this moment.”
As Ribeiro continues to shine for Sundowns, Chiefs and Pirates are left to contend with a player who has been consistently decisive in critical matches. With Sundowns leading the league by a comfortable 18 points, they are well on track for their eighth consecutive title, a feat Chiefs and Pirates can only dream of achieving.
