As Mamelodi Sundowns gear up for the 2025–26 season following their Betway Premiership title win, the club finds itself uncertain about the future of midfielder Sipho Mbule. The South African international spent the entire 2024–25 campaign on loan at Sekhukhune United but is set to return to Sundowns after Sekhukhune reportedly decided against signing him permanently due to concerns off the pitch.

Mbule, who joined Sundowns from SuperSport United in mid-2022 on a three-year deal, has been one of the better-paid players at the club. However, despite his talent and contributions on the field, his off-field behavior appears to have influenced Sekhukhune United’s reluctance to make his loan move permanent.

During his loan spell, Mbule made 17 appearances for Sekhukhune, scoring twice and assisting three times across all competitions. Prior to that, he featured in 51 games for Sundowns, netting three goals. His agent, Mike Makaab, recently revealed that Sundowns are evaluating their options carefully and will decide what steps to take before the end of May 2025 as they finalize their squad for the upcoming season.

The Brazilians now face a critical choice: whether to keep the Bafana Bafana star in their ranks or look for alternatives to strengthen their midfield ahead of their quest for continued domestic and continental success.

Fans and football analysts alike will be watching closely as Sundowns approach this key juncture in Mbule’s career and the club’s future.
