Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Yusuf Maart remains fully committed to the team despite finding himself in a reduced role this season.
Maart No Longer a Guaranteed Starter
At 29, Maart is adapting to a squad rotation role, with new signing Thabo Cele and rising star Samkelo Zwane currently ahead of him in the central midfield hierarchy. Despite this, he has still managed to feature in 24 matches across all competitions.
Rather than showing frustration, Maart remains a team player and supports whoever gets selected:
“Every player wants to be on the pitch, but at the end of the day, we all respect the coach’s decisions. We have to be happy for our teammates who get the nod because football is a team sport, and we’re all working together,” he shared on the club’s website.

Chiefs Brace for Tough Cape Town City Test
Looking ahead, Maart acknowledges the challenge posed by Cape Town City, who visit FNB Stadium on Wednesday, March 12, for a 19:30 kickoff.
“City is a tricky team to prepare for because they can switch up their playing style, but one thing we know is they love to run. For us, it’s about sticking to the coach’s game plan and executing it well,” Maart explained.
Kaizer Chiefs Planning a Squad Overhaul
Big changes are on the horizon at Naturena. Reports from SoccerLaduma suggest Chiefs are preparing for a squad revamp at the end of the season. One of their main targets is 24-year-old Bafana Bafana midfielder Luke Le Roux. The club is also exploring different recruitment strategies to avoid bidding wars for high-profile players.
With these developments, the future of players like Maart remains uncertain, but for now, his focus is on contributing to the team in any way he can.
