Mamelodi Sundowns have confirmed that utility player Aubrey Modiba will stay with the club for the upcoming season after the team exercised an option to extend his contract.
Modiba, who joined Sundowns from local rivals SuperSport United five years ago, has become a key figure in the squad. The 29-year-old left-footed player has consistently contributed to the teamβs success over the years.
According to SABC Sport, Sundowns had until May 31 to activate a one-year extension clause on Modibaβs contract β a deadline they met to ensure he remains at Chloorkop for the 2025/26 season.
Whatβs more, the club still holds another option to extend his contract for an additional year beyond that, potentially keeping him at Sundowns until 2027.
Since joining, Modiba has made 162 appearances, scoring nine goals and assisting 17 times. He recently celebrated his fourth Betway Premiership title with the club.
SABC Sport confirmed: βMamelodi Sundowns have decided not to let Aubrey Modiba leave on a free transfer, choosing to trigger the option on his contract before the May 31 deadline.β
This move secures Modibaβs future with the Tshwane giants, keeping a reliable and versatile player in their ranks for at least another season.
