Former Baroka FC coach Kgoloko Thobejane has shared his insights into why the current Kaizer Chiefs team is struggling to find their rhythm and take their performance to the next level.
Thobejane, who has vast experience in the South African football scene, believes the team is still in the process of adjusting to new dynamics. With several new faces in the squad and a revamped tactical approach under head coach Molefi Ntseki, Thobejane says it is natural for a club of Chiefs’ stature to experience some growing pains.
The former coach pointed out that the absence of consistent form is often due to the integration of new players who still need time to gel. Chiefs’ recent results have shown flashes of potential, but Thobejane suggests that the blend of new signings and established players still requires fine-tuning for full cohesion.
“Kaizer Chiefs has brought in some quality players, but football is about chemistry. Itβs not just about individual talent. The players need time to build understanding and sync together on the field. It’s always a process,” Thobejane explained.
He also stressed that Chiefs’ tactical system may still be settling in, as changes from previous seasons are bound to affect team dynamics. The fluidity between players in attack and defense needs time to improve, which can sometimes lead to inconsistency in performances.
Thobejane went on to mention that the clubβs ambitions should not be deterred by these early struggles. Chiefs, with their rich history and strong support, can still reach their full potential once the team is fully unified under Ntsekiβs philosophy.
βItβs about patience,β Thobejane concluded. βYou canβt expect a team to hit top form overnight. Chiefs have the quality, but now itβs about putting everything together. Once they find their rhythm, theyβll be back competing at their best.β
As the season progresses, Kaizer Chiefs fans will be hoping that their team can quickly adapt and start delivering the kind of results expected from one of South Africaβs most successful clubs.
