Former Mamelodi Sundowns star Teko Modise believes the public has grown indifferent to the club’s continued dominance, citing a shift in perception towards their success.

Teko Modise on Sundowns’ Success

“People are tired, not because they hate Sundowns, but because of their relentless success,” Modise shared on The Pitchside Podcast, according to iDiski Times. “When you work in the media and read articles or hear what other coaches say, you see how much disrespect the team gets. It’s not about dislike, it’s more of an irritation from the public’s point of view.”

Manqoba Mngqithi Reflects on His Departure

Meanwhile, former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Manqoba Mngqithi has spoken confidently about his future following his departure from the club.

“I don’t think people who speak behind cameras affect me much,” Mngqithi said on Arrows’ Up Back Through Podcast, as quoted by iDiski Times. “Sometimes, they don’t even have their own identity, so I would be unfair to myself if I let their words get to me.”

Mngqithi emphasized his resilience, adding, “We made these career choices, and as the saying goes, ‘A car that’s not moving isn’t barked at by dogs.’ When you’re succeeding, you become the target.”

He went on to express his confidence, saying, “The person who knows me best is sis Mato Madlala, the owner of this club. She knows I’m thick-skinned and don’t care about what others say.”

“I know my own abilities, and I’m not bothered by societal pressures or worrying about whether I fit in. I’m confident in my principles, and I believe I’ll land another job. It’s inevitable, and I’ll excel in that role, too. With God’s grace, I have won a lot already. I always wanted to win trophies because a true conqueror must have conquered,” Mngqithi concluded.
