Mamelodi Sundowns are once again attracting European attention for their top talent, with Teboho Mokoena reportedly on the radar of French clubs as the transfer window approaches.
The 28-year-old midfield general has been a consistent performer for both Sundowns and the South African national team, Bafana Bafana. Having racked up 34 international caps and nearly 300 top-flight appearances between SuperSport United and Sundowns, Mokoenaβs influence on the pitch has become impossible to ignore.
A source close to the situation revealed, βItβs becoming harder for Sundowns to hold on to Mokoena. Every other week, thereβs interest from Europe. The latest approach came from a club in France, although I can’t reveal their name just yet.β
With the “silly season” transfer window looming, Sundowns could face a tough decision regarding their star midfielder.
Meanwhile, the clubβs focus remains locked on CAF Champions League action. Sundowns will travel to Egypt for a high-stakes return leg against Al Ahly in the semi-final clash on Friday, 25 April at 18:00. The first leg ended in a goalless draw, leaving everything to play for in Cairo. On the other side of the bracket, Orlando Pirates will take on Pyramids FC in another tense second-leg encounter, also coming off a 0-0 draw.
With $4 million (approximately R75 million) on the line for the champions, the stakes couldnβt be higher.
