The Springboks currently hold a solid lead in the world rugby rankings, sitting 2.42 points ahead of second-placed New Zealand. But coach Rassie Erasmus is clear: the reigning world champions aren’t settling — they believe there’s still room to improve.

With new coaching staff on board and a stronger focus on expanding their attacking strategies, Erasmus revealed that continuous growth and evolution remain a top priority.

“Our coaches have been working hard to refine our game plans and structures,” Erasmus said after the latest training camp. “It was encouraging to see the players adapt well to these changes. We know the season ahead will be tough, but we’re happy with the progress we’re making both on and off the field.”

Erasmus emphasized that staying ahead requires constant development. This is especially critical as the 2027 Rugby World Cup expands to 24 teams, with the official draw happening this December.
