After six long years without a single senior appearance, Thabang Sibanyoniβs time at Mamelodi Sundowns appears to be over.
The 29-year-old striker, who was promoted from the Sundowns development ranks in 2019, has failed to break into the star-studded first team. Despite early promise, Sibanyoni has spent his entire stint at Chloorkop bouncing between loan deals and never got the chance to wear the yellow jersey competitively.
Since 2019, the Bafana Bafana forward has been loaned to a carousel of PSL clubs β including JDR Stars, Sekhukhune United, AmaTuks (twice), SuperSport United, Richards Bay, and currently, Magesi FC. He was even part of the Bafana squad that lifted the 2021 COSAFA Cup, but consistent game time at club level remained elusive.
Now, according to reports from Soccer Laduma, Mamelodi Sundowns are preparing to part ways with Sibanyoni. His current loan club, Magesi FC, is said to be keen on signing him permanently in the upcoming transfer window.
While Sibanyoniβs time at Sundowns never truly took off, a fresh start elsewhere could finally give him the platform to relaunch his career.
