As the PSL season nears its end, the transfer rumour mill is heating up, with clubs scrambling to secure key signings for the upcoming campaign. Orlando Pirates, who didn’t make any moves in January, are now linked with several high-profile players in an effort to catch up with Mamelodi Sundowns, the reigning league champions.

Monnapule Saleng has returned to training, sparking speculation that he’ll stay at Pirates for next season, especially with Jose Riveiro parting ways with the club. Meanwhile, Pirates, Sundowns, and Kaizer Chiefs are all in the race for Tshepang Moremi, the star from AmaZulu FC. AmaZulu are also eyeing George Matlou, who seems set to enter free agency this offseason, with Kaizer Chiefs yet to offer him a contract extension. Chiefs have reportedly activated a clause in Yusuf Maart’s contract, which will see him stay at the club for another year as the team targets a top-eight finish in the league. Hugo Broos has hinted that Relebohile Mofokeng may be playing his final season in South Africa, fuelling rumours of a potential move abroad in the offseason.

Regarding George Matlou, sources have confirmed that AmaZulu have shown interest in signing him. The AmaZulu approach appears to be in the early stages, but there’s talk that they’ve made inquiries about his availability. “There have been no talks yet regarding his contract renewal at Kaizer Chiefs,” said one insider. “His current deal expires in June, and by now, he should know whether he’s staying or not, which could open the door for AmaZulu to swoop in and sign him for free.”
