Pitso Mosimane has responded to the rumors linking him to Orlando Pirates, addressing speculation about his future with the club.
Orlando Pirates Legends Support Mosimaneβs Appointment
As previously reported, two former Orlando Pirates stars recently weighed in on who should take over from outgoing head coach Jose Riveiro. Albert “Bashin” Mahlangu voiced his support for Mosimane, stating to Robert Marawa on 947 that the experienced coach is the ideal candidate. Mpho Makola also backed Mosimaneβs credentials in an interview with FARPost, highlighting his extensive experience with Mamelodi Sundowns, Bafana Bafana, and Al Ahly.
Mosimane Responds to the Speculation
The highly sought-after coach, however, has clarified that no official contact has been made regarding the position. “I’ve seen the rumors, but nobody has spoken to me. So we can’t be talking about nothing,” Mosimane told The Sowetan. “Right now, my focus is on the Pitso Mosimane Youth Football project. That means more to me than any other badge.”
Despite the speculation, Mosimane emphasized that he is content where he is. “Iβm home, yes, but it has to be the right project, the right time. Let me build this legacy, because once I stop coaching, people will forget about the trophies.”
He also shared his busy schedule, juggling multiple responsibilities. “Look at how busy I amβtoday Iβm here, tomorrow Iβm at another school. I was in Rustenburg three days ago launching something. Iβm not even thinking about the vacancy of not being on the pitch,” he explained. “Iβm constantly on the pitch with coaches, watching, making sure theyβre doing the right thing.”
Mosimane closed by expressing gratitude for his current role. “Iβm at the office every day, on the pitches, at schools, and in government offices. I canβt ask for more. Iβm blessed, thank you.”
