Orlando Pirates are making moves againβthis time targeting Chippa Unitedβs in-form playmaker, Sinoxolo Kwayiba. The 25-year-old attacking midfielder has impressed this season with seven goals in 23 appearances, and it looks like the Buccaneers and the Chilli Boys have struck a deal for his transfer.
If the Gqeberha-born star does make the switch to Soweto, he’ll add more firepower to Pirates’ number 10 options, where he’ll be competing with Patrick Maswanganyi and Kabelo Dlamini. That could also see Karim Kimvuidi, Azola Tshobeni, and Thuso Moleleki heading out on loan to make space in the squad.
Riveiro Focused on the Now, Not the History Books
Meanwhile, coach JosΓ© Riveiro and his squad are just one win away from a potential three-peat in the Nedbank Cupβsomething no Pirates team has ever achieved. But for the outgoing Spanish coach, the focus isnβt on records.
βFor us, itβs about the now,β Riveiro told The Citizen. βThis final matters. The next one will matter too. The past is history. Weβre in football to keep pushing forward and chasing more.β
He emphasized that his team isnβt just showing up to enjoy the occasion: βWeβre not going there for fireworks or just to say we were in a final. Weβre going to compete, to be better than our opponents, and to win.β
And while a third consecutive Nedbank title would be special, Riveiro downplayed any personal glory. βItβs not about me. Yes, we care about what we achieve. But we donβt obsess about recordsβweβre here to win because thatβs our job,β he added.
