Orlando Pirates have reportedly secured Paseko Mako’s services with a two-year contract extension, addressing a critical gap in the left-back position.
With the future of captain Innocent Maela uncertain, Mako has become the club’s only reliable left-back for the upcoming season. A source close to the club revealed, “He’s the only option at left-back for now, which is why they’ve decided to extend his contract for another two years.”
Mako, who joined the Buccaneers in 2018, has been one of the longest-serving players at the club, making 170 appearances for the team.
Relebohile Mofokeng’s Future at Pirates
Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has expressed concerns that Relebohile Mofokeng could be heading out of Orlando Pirates after this season. Broos said, “I just hope Mofokeng makes the right decision. I’m worried about him joining a team where he might not play much.”
Broos continued, alluding to potential moves to clubs like Barcelona and Rangers, adding, “I hope the people around him choose what’s best for his career, not just the financial aspect.”
The Bafana coach also hinted that Mofokeng’s departure from Pirates could be imminent, stating, “I think by June, Rele will no longer be a Pirates player, but making the right choice is crucial.”
