Orlando Pirates have reportedly entered negotiations with a striker that Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has been eyeing intensely.
While it looks like Mamelodi Sundowns will cruise to yet another league title, the Buccaneers are already planning for next season—determined to close the gap and pose a real challenge.
To do that, they’re targeting none other than DR Congo international Fiston Mayele, a player who has been a top priority for Chiefs in recent months.
Mayele, currently with Egyptian giants Pyramids FC, made headlines when he almost single-handedly knocked Pirates out of the CAF Champions League. Now, the Soweto club seems intent on bringing him to Mayfair rather than letting him slip to Naturena.
According to Soccer Laduma, talks have already begun. “There’s been contact. While nothing’s been finalized yet, it’s a real possibility,” an insider confirmed.
Mayele’s camp is reportedly testing the waters, trying to gauge whether Pirates are ready to put a serious offer on the table. With Pirates in need of a reliable goal scorer and Mayele’s proven record, this could be a big move brewing in the upcoming transfer window.
