Thalente Mbatha, the talented central midfielder, took to Instagram to clear up rumors suggesting he showed up to training intoxicated. Addressing the speculation, he said, “They said I’m not training, but I just came back from training. People can say whatever about me, but I’m here, training.”
Midfield Crisis Ahead of Cape Town City Clash
Pirates face a midfield shortage before their clash with Cape Town City on Saturday, February 22. They were originally scheduled to face Golden Arrows on Wednesday, but the match was postponed. The club will be without key midfielder Makhehlene Makhaula, who is suspended after picking up his fourth yellow card in the Nedbank Cup Round of 16 against Baroka. Kabelo Dlamini, who started alongside Makhaula in that match, will continue in the lineup, but coach Jose Riveiro must now decide who will partner with him. Selaelo Rasebotja, known for his versatility, could be the solution. As for Mbatha, he has indicated that he’s fit and ready to return.
