Orlando Pirates winger Relebohile Mofokeng is set to receive a brand-new car from the Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture, and Recreation.
This reward comes after the 20-year-old was named the Gauteng Sport Awards Personality of the Year in November 2024. Mofokeng won the prestigious award, beating out notable figures such as former African 100m record holder Akani Simbine, UFC champion Dricus Du Plessis, Olympic gold medalist Tatjana Schoenmaker, and Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams.
Mofokeng’s stellar 2024 saw him win two trophies with Orlando Pirates, and he also earned his first call-up to the national team after impressing coach Hugo Broos.
The Gauteng Department confirmed that Mofokeng would be presented with the car on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. A statement from the department read, “Gauteng Sport Awards Personality of the Year winner, Relebohile Mofokeng, will receive his prize of a brand-new car from MEC Matome Chiloane.” The vehicle is being provided by Joma Sport and will be handed over at Bidwest McCarthy VW Westgate in Roodepoort.
This season, Mofokeng has made 14 league appearances, scoring twice. He also played a key role in winning the MTN8, scoring in the final. The talented winger has attracted attention from several top European clubs, with rumors suggesting he could move abroad after the 2024/25 season.
