Although Orlando Pirates didnβt make any signings during the recent PSL transfer window, the Soweto giants have already set their sights on a highly sought-after striker for future recruitment.
Muzomuhle Khanyi, currently one of the standout players in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, has been in sensational form. The striker has been consistently scoring goals, including a memorable hat-trick this past weekend. According to sources, his exceptional performances have attracted the attention of several top-flight clubs, with Pirates now reportedly leading the race for his signature.
“Khanyi has been on Pirates’ radar since the start of the season, and it looks like they are preparing to make a formal approach ahead of next season,” a source said. “The interest is growing, and it seems unlikely that Hungry Lions will be able to keep him for much longer.”
Pirates will face competition from other PSL clubs, including Stellenbosch FC, SuperSport United, Sekhukhune United, Richards Bay FC, and Magesi FC, all reportedly interested in the talented forward.
Despite the intense transfer speculation, Pirates management, including head coach Jose Riveiro, chose not to make any new signings during the January window. This reflects their confidence in the current squad’s capabilities as they focus on crucial upcoming competitions.
With their qualification for the CAF Champions League quarter-finals, Pirates are gearing up for high-stakes matches, including a thrilling top-of-the-table clash against defending PSL champions, Mamelodi Sundowns, on Saturday, February 8, 2025.
