Orlando Pirates appear to be making bold moves ahead of the 2025/26 season, with two big developments catching attention — a potential deal for Thabang Matuludi and a growing role for rising star Relebohile Mofokeng.
Pirates Closing In on Matuludi Signing
Reports from Soccer-Laduma suggest that the Buccaneers are on the verge of completing the signing of Polokwane City right-back Thabang Matuludi. According to a source close to the deal, Pirates are leading the race, while their Soweto rivals, Kaizer Chiefs, are also eyeing players from the same club.
“It looks like Pirates will land Matuludi soon. If all goes as expected, both Soweto giants could end up with a player each from Polokwane City when the new season begins,” said the insider.
How the Starting XI Could Look With New Additions
Should the Pirates secure their targets and sell one of their stars, the team could look very different. A potential line-up might include:
Chaine; Van Rooyen, Sesane, Mbokazi, Letlapa; Mbatha, Makhaula; Appollis, Nkota, Mofokeng; Mabasa.
Veteran midfielder Makhehlene Makhaula, now 35, still brings steel and experience to the middle of the park. Any new midfield recruits will have to fight hard to unseat him.
