After a relatively quiet January transfer window, Orlando Pirates are setting their sights on a busy winter window to secure significant reinforcements.
Orlando Pirates’ Five Rumoured Transfer Targets
Sinoxolo Kwayiba: Goal-Scoring Midfielder
Orlando Pirates have reportedly made Chippa United’s Sinoxolo Kwayiba a top priority for their June transfer window. The 25-year-old midfielder, recently capped by Bafana Bafana, has been in impressive form this season, netting six goals in the league. The club’s interest in Kwayiba comes after they backed off from signing Siphelele Luthuli, who had trained with Pirates after leaving Chippa.
Jaedin Rhodes: Wide Player/No. 10
Pirates are also eyeing Cape Town City’s talented 21-year-old winger and playmaker, Jaedin Rhodes. Rhodes, who has made 19 appearances this season, has dazzled with his flair, creativity, and versatility. With 75 appearances for City, eight goals, and four assists, Rhodes has proved his worth and could add significant depth to Piratesβ attacking options, capable of playing on either flank or as a number 10.
Oswin Appollis: Versatile Wide Player
Both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates have shown interest in the 23-year-old Bafana Bafana winger Oswin Appollis from Polokwane City. Appollis is an exciting talent with the ability to play on either wing, but his potential will come at a premium price.
Muzomuhle Khanyi: In-Form Striker
25-year-old Muzomuhle Khanyi has been making waves in the National First Division, scoring prolifically. His recent hat-trick has increased his profile as a potential bargain signing. Though Pirates have reliable strikers like Tshegofatso Mabasa and Evidence Makgopa, thereβs always room for more attacking talent in the squad.
Thabang Matuludi: Right-Back
Pirates nearly secured the signing of Thabang Matuludi in January, but the deal fell through after an injury. The right-back remains on their radar, with a possible move in the near future.
Priority Areas
From these targets, it’s clear that Orlando Pirates are focusing on increasing creativity and goal-scoring ability in the midfield and wide positions. There’s also a need for reinforcement at right-back and additional attacking options to challenge the likes of Mabasa and Makgopa up front.
