Orlando Pirates coach, Jose Riveiro, has spoken out following the injury setback of key central defender Thabiso Sesane.
THABISO SESANE INJURED The Buccaneers have now lost a third central defender this season. First, it was Tapelo Xoki, followed by Olisa Ndah, and now Sesane, who sustained an injury during the teamβs 2-1 victory over Sekhukhune United last Wednesday. βWe could feel the impact because it was a difficult situation for Thabiso, and the injury didnβt look good at that moment,β Riveiro shared during the post-match conference. βWeβll assess it further. But even in his absence, the team stuck to the game plan, and thatβs a testament to the strength of the squad. Itβs not about who is playing, but about how the team adapts and plays its football.β
Fortunately, Sesaneβs injury occurred just as Tapelo Xoki returned to full fitness after a two-month absence. Riveiro added, βItβs rare to have to make a change in the first stages of a game, especially with a centre-back. It was tough for Thapelo to come off the bench unexpectedly, but I believe he handled the situation well.β
TSHEPANG MOREMI ON PIRATES’ RADAR? Orlando Pirates are reportedly targeting a new speedy winger to add depth to their squad. According to Soccer Laduma, the club is keen on signing Tshepang Moremi, who has impressed with two goals and two assists in 18 appearances this season. A source close to the club revealed, βRight now, Pirates are in the lead compared to Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs. Theyβve expressed interest, but negotiations will ultimately decide how the deal progresses.β The report further mentioned that a potential move could involve money or a player exchange.
MARSHALL MUNETSI MAKES PREMIER LEAGUE MOVE Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Marshall Munetsi has sealed a move to the English Premier League, joining Wolverhampton Wanderers from Stade Reims in France. Munetsi, 28, leaves Reims after an impressive season where he netted four goals and provided two assists in 19 appearances.
“Iβm thrilled. Itβs a dream come true,” Munetsi said of his move to Wolves. “Iβve always wanted to be part of something big, and being part of Wolves is huge for me and my family. The Premier League is the best place to be, and Iβm excited for this new chapter.” Munetsi reflected on his time at Reims, stating that while his stay in France was fulfilling, moving to a club like Wolves in the Premier League represents a big step in his career.
