Orlando Pirates are reportedly just weeks away from unveiling their new head coach following Jose Riveiro’s departure announcement. The club is aiming to secure a new manager before the offseason to ensure there’s enough time for a smooth transition, allowing the new coach to adapt to the team and align with the club’s transfer strategy for the upcoming season.

Taking the time to make this decision is crucial for the club’s long-term goals and resurgence. Rushing the process could have serious implications for the team’s future success.

Pitso Mosimane, former Mamelodi Sundowns head coach, was initially linked to the role after Riveiro’s exit. However, recent reports indicate that Orlando Pirates’ top priority is Rulani Mokwena, further fueling speculation about the club’s next move.

In other news, the Buccaneers have extended left-back Paseko Mako’s contract for another two years, keeping him at the club until 2027. Mako is now seen as the primary left-back for next season, especially with the uncertain future of captain Innocent Maela.

Additionally, Championship side Sunderland is keeping a close eye on two Orlando Pirates players, Tshegofatso Mabasa and Thalente Mbatha. After scouting Mbatha, Sunderland’s scouts were reportedly also impressed by Mabasa and have shown interest in both players.
