Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef has come out to clarify growing speculation around head coach Nasreddine Nabi’s future at the club. Despite recently guiding Amakhosi to a Nedbank Cup victory, questions have emerged about whether the Tunisian tactician will stay on.

Speaking on SABC Radio 2000, Ben Youssef expressed his surprise at the reports, emphasizing that both he and Nabi have contracts that run for two years, with an option for a one-year extension.

“Just like everyone else, we only saw those rumors online,” Ben Youssef said. “Honestly, I was flooded with calls yesterday asking about it, but I have no idea where it’s coming from. Only Chairman Kaizer Motaung can truly answer that.”

Having worked side-by-side with Nabi for three seasons, Ben Youssef spoke passionately about their strong professional bond, which he described as more like a family than a traditional coach-assistant relationship.

“Nabi’s a coach who delegates a lot and puts his trust in us. He believes in the technical team, and we all know our roles. We’ve been together long enough to function like a family,” he added.

With just two Betway Premiership fixtures left this season, Chiefs are pushing hard to secure a place in the top 8 — and for now, the focus remains firmly on finishing strong, not on off-season speculation.
