The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaign has officially concluded, confirming the 24 teams that will compete in the tournament. Morocco, the host country, stood out by completing the qualifiers with a perfect record, securing all 18 points available and scoring the most goals in the process. This impressive performance makes them a formidable contender as the host nation.

However, two major absentees from the competition will be four-time champions Ghana and the ever-popular Cape Verde. Despite their rich footballing history, both countries failed to secure their spots in the tournament. Meanwhile, other nations, including Nigeria, who had the most valuable squad at AFCON 2023, continue to remain competitive but not at the top of the African football hierarchy.

The absence of Ghana and Cape Verde, along with Morocco’s dominance, will undoubtedly change the dynamics at the upcoming tournament, with other teams vying to claim the prestigious title. As the tournament approaches, teams are preparing for intense battles as they aim to add their names to the list of Africa’s footballing elite.
