Former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Manqoba Mngqithi might soon follow in the footsteps of Pitso Mosimane and Rulani Mokwena by making a move to North Africa or the Middle East.
Mngqithiβs agent, Mike Makaab, confirmed there is significant interest in the experienced coach from clubs in these regions. However, the identities of the interested clubs are still being kept under wraps for now.
The coach, who hails from uMzimkhulu, has remained out of the spotlight since his surprise departure from Sundowns earlier this season. After leaving, he was linked to several PSL teams, including Golden Arrows and Richards Bay FC, but hasnβt rushed into a decision on his next move.

Mngqithi is waiting for the right project, according to Makaab, and could end up following in the footsteps of his former colleagues. In 2020, Pitso Mosimane left Sundowns for Al Ahly in Egypt, while Rulani Mokwena joined Wydad Athletic Club in Morocco in 2024.
Makaab spoke about the importance of choosing the right project, noting that Mngqithiβs time at Sundowns was marked by his satisfaction with the direction of the team, whether he was head coach or assistant.
βWeβve had quite a lot of interest from clubs in North Africa and the Middle East. We are biding our time purely because itβs the project thatβs important,β Makaab explained.
