Royal AM president and businesswoman Shauwn “MaMkhize” Mkhize has made headlines by publicly revealing the salaries of her club’s players—a move widely interpreted as a tactical response to the Premier Soccer League’s (PSL) efforts to remove the team from the top division.

According to Sunday World, Mkhize’s salary disclosure is aimed at showcasing financial transparency amid rising tension with the league. The detailed wage breakdown not only reveals significant salary gaps within the squad but also serves as a firm statement defending the club’s financial conduct.

Who’s Earning What at Royal AM?

Leading the salary chart is seasoned defender Thabo Matlaba, who reportedly earns R121,000 per month. He is followed by Kabelo Mahlasela with R93,500, Shadrack Kobedi at R80,000, and Jabulani Ncobeni, who earns over R68,000 monthly.

But the lower end of the pay scale paints a very different picture.

Players like Simiso Gumede earn as little as R4,950, making him the club’s lowest-paid footballer. Others such as Sbanga Zulu (R6,900), Andile Ngobese (R7,000), and Siphelele Majola (R9,500) are not far off. The large wage disparities have sparked debate among fans and critics about fairness and financial balance within the team.

Mkhize’s decision to go public with these figures seems calculated—not just to silence critics but to assert that Royal AM is managing its finances responsibly despite the PSL’s scrutiny.
