Kaizer Chiefs are set to make major changes to their attacking lineup ahead of the new season, with veteran striker Ranga Chivaviro likely to be released as part of a wider squad overhaul.

According to a reliable source within the club, Chiefs are preparing to offload several underperforming players to make space for new arrivals, with Chivaviro among those expected to depart when his contract expires at the end of June.

“There’s a list of players set to leave, and Ranga Chivaviro is believed to be on it,” the source revealed. “At one point, there were talks of extending his deal, but with the arrival of (Makabi) Lilepo and other plans, that’s no longer the case.”

Chivaviro, 32, joined Amakhosi with high expectations but has managed only five goals in 22 appearances across all competitions this season, failing to make the expected impact.

Chiefs Turning to Youth and Fresh Firepower

In addition to seeking experienced attacking reinforcements from outside, Chiefs are also planning to promote several promising youngsters from their DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) squad.

“They still want to bring in one experienced striker, but there’s also a strong push to promote youth from the DDC. That’s part of the reason Chivaviro will be allowed to leave,” the source confirmed.

A New Chapter for the Soweto Giants

The looming departure of Chivaviro signals a broader transition at Naturena, as Chiefs look to rebuild with a mix of experienced signings and homegrown talent in hopes of returning to their former glory.

With the transfer window around the corner, fans will be watching closely to see which new players come in—and who else joins Chivaviro on the way out.
