Kaizer Chiefs are on a mission to rebuild, and part of that plan includes targeting fresh talent from across the African continent. With a focus on both experience and potential, the club is reportedly tracking five exciting prospects who could bring new energy to Naturena. Here’s a closer look at two of those names making headlines:
Kingsley Michael – The Well-Traveled Midfield General
At just 25, Kingsley Michael already boasts a seasoned CV that stretches across several top leagues. The Nigerian midfielder started his journey in Italy, playing for Bologna, and enjoying loan spells with Perugia, Cremonese, and Reggina. He later moved to Austria, featuring for SV Ried and DSV Leoben, before landing in Tunisia where he now plays for US Monastir.
Despite his vast club experience in Europe, Michael has just one cap for the Nigerian national team—a stat that many feel doesn’t reflect his true ability. Known for his vision, control, and deep-lying playmaking skills, he’s the kind of midfield organizer that Chiefs have been missing.
Stephane Aziz Ki – But Not Headed to Chiefs
One player who won’t be joining Kaizer Chiefs, however, is Stephane Aziz Ki. The highly-rated Burkinabe midfielder from Young Africans SC in Tanzania is reportedly on his way to Wydad Casablanca in Morocco.
According to PanAfrica Football, the 29-year-old is finalizing a deal with the North African giants. It’s believed that Rulani Mokwena, who’s also set to leave his current role, played a key part in steering Aziz Ki toward Wydad. Chiefs had shown interest, but the move appears off the table.
With more names expected to emerge in the coming weeks, one thing is clear: Kaizer Chiefs are casting their net wide in Africa to find the right blend of talent and experience to revive their squad.
