Kaizer Chiefs are planning major changes to their attacking options ahead of the new season — and it looks like striker Tashreeq Morris will be the first to make way. According to Soccer Laduma, the club is preparing to loan out the 31-year-old as part of a broader strategy to bring in new goal-scoring talent.

Morris joined the Amakhosi from SuperSport United in January with high hopes pinned on his experience and presence up front. However, in 19 appearances across all competitions, the striker has managed just two goals — a return that hasn’t met the expectations at Naturena.

Performance Sparks Exit Plans

While Morris is known for his physical style and work rate off the ball, sources within the Chiefs’ camp say his contributions haven’t been enough to cement his place. Internal discussions reportedly took place just before the season finale, with both management and the technical team reaching a consensus that a loan spell next season would be the best move.

“There was a meeting just before the final game of the season. The club agreed that it’s best to loan Morris out next season,” an insider revealed.

New Striker a Priority Before Loan Deal

Chiefs aren’t planning to send Morris out until a new striker is secured. Club officials have already identified several targets and are actively working to finalise a deal. The loan move for Morris will only proceed once the club has found a suitable replacement to lead the line.

“They’re actively pursuing a new striker. Morris’ loan will only happen once a new signing is confirmed,” the source explained.

Still Valuable — Just Not the Right Fit?

Although Morris hasn’t hit the net often, his style of play has still been valued by some at the club. His ability to hold up the ball, link play, and apply pressure on defenders has caused problems for opponents. However, with goals at a premium, Chiefs are clearly aiming for a more clinical presence up front.

With a reshuffle on the horizon, the next few weeks could define Morris’ future — and signal the start of a new era for Kaizer Chiefs’ attacking force.
