Kaizer Chiefs midfielder George Matlou could be on his way out of Naturena, with his contract set to expire at the end of June. As things stand, there have been no discussions about an extension β€” leaving the door wide open for a potential move elsewhere in the DStv Premiership.

AmaZulu FC, based in KwaZulu-Natal, are believed to be monitoring the 26-year-old’s situation closely and may make a move if Chiefs decide against renewing his deal.

β€œAmaZulu have shown interest in George Matlou. It’s still early stages, but they’ve definitely made enquiries,” a source told Soccer Laduma’s Siya crew.

Another insider confirmed the uncertainty surrounding Matlou’s future at the Soweto giants. β€œWith no talks yet about renewing his contract, and it expiring soon, this could be AmaZulu’s opportunity to sign him on a free,” they added.

His agent, John Wilson, echoed the same uncertainty:
β€œThere are currently no discussions with Chiefs about a new deal. His contract runs out in June, and at this point, he should have clarity on whether he’s staying. That lack of direction could open the door for a move to AmaZulu.”
