Kaizer Chiefs are set to lose out on another transfer target, as an African powerhouse is fast approaching a deal to sign one of Amakhosi’s top targets, Feisal Salum.

Azam FC Open to Salum’s Departure, But With Conditions

For some time, Feisal Salum, the talented midfielder from Azam FC, had been on Kaizer Chiefs’ radar. However, it seems the Tanzanian club’s stance is shifting. Azam FC is reportedly open to selling the player but is setting clear expectations for any potential deal.

Salum is contracted to Azam FC until June 2026, meaning he has a year left on his current deal after this season. This gives the club a strong position, but they have been looking to cash in on the midfielder’s value.

Salum, also known as Fei Toto, made the move from Young Africans to Azam FC in 2023, signing a three-year contract with the club.

Simba SC Moves Ahead of Chiefs in the Race

While Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi – who worked with Salum at Young Africans – is keen on reuniting with the midfielder, it seems that his former player will not be making the move to Naturena. Instead, Simba SC is reportedly leading the race to sign Salum.

Azam FC is reportedly open to letting the player leave if a suitable offer comes in. According to a statement from the club, they expect a return on their investment in Salum, given the financial commitment they’ve made.

β€œWe expect Feisal to deliver results because we are paying him a lot of money. However, if he decides to leave, that will be his choice. We are not stopping him from leaving,” Azam FC commented, as reported by FARPost.

Despite their openness to a sale, Azam FC has made it clear they have no immediate plans to part ways with the midfielder unless the right offer comes along.

Salum’s Stellar Form This Season

Salum has been a standout performer for Azam FC this season, leading the assist charts in the NBC Tanzania Premier League with 13 assists, according to Diramakini. His creativity and playmaking ability have been key to Azam’s strong showing in the league.

It seems the race for the midfielder’s signature is heating up, and with Simba SC moving closer to sealing the deal, Chiefs may have to look elsewhere for reinforcements.
