Kaizer Chiefs will be without one of their key players in their next match.
The Soweto giants will miss new signing Thabo Cele, who picked up his fourth yellow card of the season in the 1-0 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns. Since joining the club, the Bafana Bafana midfielder has been booked in every match he has played.
As per Premier Soccer League (PSL) rules, any player or team staff who accumulates more than four yellow cards during a season faces an automatic one-match suspension.
Despite the suspension, Kaizer Chiefs supporters were impressed with Cele’s performance against Sundowns at Lucas Moripe Stadium. Fans took to social media to express their appreciation for his contribution:
@TladiNtate posted: “Thabo Cele is showing the class we need. Dortley is covering his side well in defense, but we still need to work together as a team. Vilakazi needs a well-functioning team to reach his best, and Lillepo needs to improve his team play.”
Thabo Cele’s influence in the midfield was also recognized by @NahayoMash, who tweeted: “Thabo Cele was our best player today. We should unlock his potential and allow him to play further forward. MMODI needs to take his chances seriously, or he will regret it. Vilakazi always adds something positive when he comes in.”
Another fan, @mphoRMA, added: “Kaizer Chiefs should build their team around Thabo Cele and they’ll be better than Pirates.”
