Itumeleng Khune is a beloved figure among Kaizer Chiefs fans. But is the iconic goalkeeper making a return to Naturena soon?
Chiefs Eye Khune for Marketing Role
Just months after playing his final match for Kaizer Chiefs, the club is exploring the possibility of bringing Khune back in a new capacity. Sources reveal that Chiefs are keen to keep him involved with the team, not as a player, but in a role that suits both him and the club.
“Yes, the club still wants to work with Itu (Khune),” a source told SoccerLaduma. “They believe he has a lot to offer off the field, which is why the talks have never stopped. They understand he has other commitments, but they are looking for a way to form a mutually beneficial partnership. The idea is to involve him in the marketing and commercial department, possibly working with Jessica.”

Another source added: “They also want him to pursue his coaching badges and help mentor young goalkeepers. The club sees him as someone who has a wealth of experience and can pass that on to the next generation. Whatever role it may be, Kaizer Chiefs are eager to bring him back in any capacity.”
Khune’s Legendary Legacy at Kaizer Chiefs
Khune is undoubtedly a club legend. Having spent his entire career at Kaizer Chiefs, he’s known for his exceptional shot-stopping and renowned for his ability to distribute the ball with precision. Khune made his PSL debut for Chiefs in August 2007 against Jomo Cosmos and over 17 years, he’s won seven major titles, including three Betway Premiership trophies (2005, 2013, and 2015). He was also named PSL Footballer of the Year in 2013. With 91 caps for Bafana Bafana, Khune’s legacy at Chiefs is firmly cemented.
