Kaizer Chiefs were held to a 1-1 draw by TS Galaxy in their Betway Premiership match at Mbombela Stadium, narrowly avoiding a third consecutive league defeat. The Soweto giants were on the brink of losing but were salvaged by a late goal from South African striker Ranga Chivaviro, securing them a point. Chiefs have now gone three matches without a win in the league, with their last victory coming against Richards Bay.

The match saw both teams battle it out from the start, but it was Chiefs who had the first clear opportunity. Mduduzi Shabalala provided a perfect assist for Ashley du Preez, but the striker couldnβt take advantage of the chance. TS Galaxy, on the other hand, kept up constant pressure and were rewarded in the 35th minute when Samunkelo Kabini headed in a cross from Sphiwe Mahlangu to give the home side a 1-0 lead.
Galaxy continued to apply pressure, particularly from set-pieces, but Chiefs managed to hold them off until halftime. In the second half, Kaizer Chiefs pushed hard for an equalizer, but TS Galaxyβs defense stood firm. A blow to Bafana Bafana star Rushwin Dortley, who was substituted in the 67th minute due to injury, momentarily disrupted Galaxy’s momentum, as he was replaced by Happy Mashiane.
However, Chiefsβ persistence paid off deep into stoppage time when Chivaviro scored, rescuing a much-needed point for the visitors.
