Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly made two major signings, pending official announcements, as they continue to strengthen their squad for the 2025 season.
According to FARPost, Amakhosi have successfully reached an agreement with French club Valenciennes FC to sign 27-year-old winger Glody Makabi Lilepo. The Congolese international has reportedly signed a pre-agreement with the Soweto giants, with the transfer fee believed to be around €500,000 (approximately R9.6 million). Despite interest from European clubs, including teams in Ligue 2 and Tunisia, Lilepo has decided to make the move to South Africa. His transfer will be finalized pending a successful medical.
Lilepo’s arrival comes as part of Chiefs’ ongoing efforts to bolster their attacking options. The winger’s addition follows the club’s earlier acquisition of SuperSport United striker Tashreeq Morris, in a deal that involves a player swap. Christian Saile will be moving to SuperSport United as part of the arrangement, with Morris, 30, expected to strengthen Chiefs’ frontline.
Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Siboniso Gaxa has weighed in on the club’s leadership, suggesting that Bobby Motaung, the club’s Football Manager, should take full responsibility for running the club. Speaking on Robert Mawara’s SportsWorldWide show on 947, Gaxa expressed his belief that Bobby should be given complete control to steer the team back to its former glory, rather than sharing the leadership role with his brother, Kaizer Motaung Jr., the club’s Sporting Director.
Gaxa praised Bobby’s abilities and described him as an “exceptionally incredible man,” adding that many people who don’t understand or know him fail to appreciate his leadership qualities. He suggested that if Bobby and Marketing Director Jessica Motaung were given full control of the club, they would make significant positive changes.
When asked who should step aside to allow Bobby and Jessica to take charge, Gaxa chose not to name anyone but reiterated his strong belief that the Motaung siblings could lead Kaizer Chiefs to success with the right authority.
