Kaizer Chiefs’ defender, Inácio Miguel, has earned a reputation for his aggressive playing style, often finding himself in the referee’s book with yellow and red cards this season. Despite concerns raised by head coach Nasreddine Nabi, Miguel is unapologetic, stating that his passionate approach to the game is non-negotiable.

Miguel Unmoved by Coach’s Advice

During a recent media briefing at Kaizer Chiefs Village, Miguel shared that coach Nabi had advised him to be more strategic with his tackles and discipline. However, the Angolan international remains firm in his playing style, making it clear he is not willing to compromise.

“I had a meeting with Coach Nabi, and he told me to better understand the timing and way to approach things,” said Miguel. “But I told him, for me, there’s no problem taking a yellow or red card if it’s for the team. I’ll keep doing it until the end of the season. We’re doing better as a team now, which means I’m not as exposed.”

Miguel Willing to Take One for the Team

Miguel emphasized that he would continue to make tactical fouls if necessary, no matter the timing, to help the team.

“If I need to make a foul in the 5th minute to stop a goal, I will take the yellow card. If you don’t want me to do that, don’t put me in the game. I will do it if it’s required.”

Indifferent to Fan Criticism

Miguel remains unaffected by the criticism from fans regarding his disciplinary record, as he believes his actions ultimately benefit the team.

“I don’t mind if the supporters think I get too many cards. If the team is winning and I need to take a yellow card in every match, I’ll do it. It’s not a problem for me. Of course, I have to be cautious and learn from the timing of what I do, but it’s a process.”

Looking Ahead to Cape Town City Clash

Kaizer Chiefs will face Cape Town City in their next Betway Premiership match on Wednesday evening at FNB Stadium. With Miguel’s intense playing style, all eyes will be on whether his high-risk approach will pay off in this crucial encounter.
