Kaizer Chiefs’ top brass seem to avoid any real consequences whenever the team fails to win trophies. When will they be held accountable?
Is Nabi the Right Man for the Job?
Itβs unclear. While Chiefs have made it to the Nedbank Cup quarter-finals and are still in the race for that trophy, failure to claim silverware this season will mark 10 years without a title. Though itβs not entirely on Nabiβs shoulders, the question remains: Have they improved under his leadership? After 17 matches, the team sits 17 points behind the leaders, with only three clean sheets in the Betway Premiership despite bringing in defensive signings during Nabiβs first window. Shouldnβt that number be higher? Also, why let go of a young, versatile talent like Thatayaone Ditlhokwe, whose best years are ahead of him? Chiefs are in need of leaders, yet they sold one for a relatively low price β maybe Ditlhokwe was eager to leave.
The Club is Underachieving
With Kaizer Chiefsβ size, resources, and reputation, they should be challenging for titles every season. This isnβt a controversial statement. Yet, they consistently fail to even make the top eight. How is this acceptable? The solution is simple: sign the right players, give them proper coaching, and move up the table. Itβs not that complicated.
