Kaizer Chiefs may be considering selling goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari, following reports that he has attracted interest from overseas.
Is It Time for Ntwari to Leave Kaizer Chiefs?
Rwanda’s national team coach, Adel Amrouche, has confirmed that there is French interest in Ntwari, who joined Chiefs from TS Galaxy in July 2024. Although the 25-year-old initially made a strong impression and was a regular starter, a series of injuries have seen him drop down the goalkeeper pecking order. Ntwari has only managed to make seven appearances for the club since his arrival.
Rwanda’s World Cup Ambitions and Ntwari’s Role
Despite his struggles at club level, Ntwari continues to be a regular feature for Rwanda in their World Cup qualification campaign. His country, sitting in Group C alongside South Africa, has eight points from six matches and remains in contention for a spot at the 2026 World Cup in Mexico, Canada, and the United States. Ntwari, standing at 1.94 meters, has earned 12 caps for his nation and will look to build on that record as the World Cup year approaches.
Fiston Mayele: Potential Threat to Orlando Pirates
In another key development, Fiston Mayele, a player currently linked to Kaizer Chiefs, could become a problem for Orlando Pirates. Pyramids FC’s Mayele has been in exceptional form in the CAF Champions League, scoring six goals in 10 appearances this season and a total of 19 goals in 34 matches in Africa’s premier club competition. Pirates will need to be wary as they face Pyramids in the second leg of their semi-final on Friday, 25 April, with the first leg having ended in a goalless draw.
