Kaizer Chiefs fans can breathe easy as new signing Glody Makabi Lilepo is expected to make a quick recovery and be fit for their upcoming Nedbank Cup Round of 16 clash against Chippa United on Saturday, February 15, at FNB Stadium.

Lilepo’s Injury Update

Lilepo, who was substituted during Friday’s match against Stellenbosch FC due to a suspected injury, is not seriously hurt. According to a club insider, the forward suffered a minor thigh knock late in the game but is recovering well. Although Lilepo looked uncomfortable when leaving the pitch, immediate medical attention helped ease his pain and speed up his recovery.

“It’s not a serious injury. We took him off as a precaution to avoid aggravating the knock. It was just a thigh injury that was uncomfortable at the time, but he was feeling much better by Saturday. He joined the team for recovery training and should be ready for the game against Chippa United,” the insider confirmed.

Matlou’s Recovery Progress

Another boost for Chiefs comes in the form of midfielder George Matlou, who is steadily recovering from an injury sustained during the Soweto Derby. Matlou missed recent matches against AmaZulu and Stellenbosch, but the club’s medical staff are optimistic about his return.

“Matlou was injured during the Soweto Derby, which is why he missed the last two games. But he’s making good progress, and by Saturday, he should be ready for selection, depending on the coach’s decisions,” the source shared.

Duba Still Out

While Lilepo and Matlou are expected to return to action, Chiefs will still be without young forward Wandile Duba, who remains sidelined with a knee injury. This leaves a gap in the team’s attacking options.
