As Kaizer Chiefs gear up for their midweek Betway Premiership showdown against Cape Town City, they receive both positive and concerning news on the injury front.
Coach Nasreddine Nabi shared an update on the squad’s fitness, revealing that while some players are returning, others remain doubtful. Rushwin Dortley is still a concern, while Wandile Duba is making progress toward a comeback after a lengthy absence.
“[Edson] Castillo has rejoined the squad, though he’s not yet at peak fitness after being out for months,” Nabi confirmed.
“We’re still without Happy [Mashiane] for this match. Dortley’s condition will be monitored over the next two days to determine his availability. Lilepo has been experiencing some discomfort, so we’ll assess him today. As for OX [Mthethwa], we believe he might be able to play a few minutes but not the entire game,” he added.

Setback for Morris and Zwane
While Duba is edging closer to full fitness, Samkelo Zwane and Tashreeq Morris will not feature in the upcoming fixture. Chiefs will take on Cape Town City on Wednesday, March 12, at 19:30 at FNB Stadium.
“[Wandile] Duba trained with the squad last week for the first time. Unfortunately, Zwane is completely ruled out for the Cape Town City match. As for Morris, he still needs about three more weeks before he can return.”
Chiefs Eye Malian Goalkeeper Djigui Diarra
In transfer news, Chiefs are reportedly targeting Malian goalkeeper Djigui Diarra, according to SoccerLaduma. The 30-year-old, who boasts 65 international caps, previously played under coach Nasreddine Nabi at Young Africans since 2021.
With concerns over new signing Fiacre Ntwari and doubts about Brucs Bvuna as a long-term solution, the club is actively exploring goalkeeper options. Diarra is said to be one of six players linked to Amakhosi as they look to strengthen their squad.
