Kaizer Chiefs may have to part ways with a few of their foreign players ahead of the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season.

Currently, Amakhosi has six foreign players on their roster: Edson Castillo, Fiacre Ntwari, Edmilson Dove, Miguel Inacio, Makabi Lilepo, and Christian Saile (on loan).

According to the PSL handbook, Article 34:2 states that “A foreign player is any player who is not a South African citizen unless the player has obtained permanent residence under South African law.” Additionally, a club can’t have more than five foreign players contracted at any given time.

Reports from Soccer Laduma suggest that Kaizer Chiefs could release one or two of these foreign players by the end of the season to make room for new signings. The club has been linked with several foreign strikers recently.

A source told Soccer Laduma, β€œThey are planning for next season and evaluating which players to bring in. Ntwari could be one of those sacrificed to free up a foreign player spot. It’s also believed that this decision might be influenced by their plans for the goalkeeping department.”

Ntwari, who joined Chiefs from TS Galaxy this season for around R6 million, has had a rough start and was replaced by Bruce Bvuma in goal after picking up an injury.

With Saile expected to leave, and both Dove and Ntwari potentially making way, Kaizer Chiefs could make space for new foreign talent next season.
