After Saturday’s intense Soweto derby at FNB Stadium, the iconic venue will host another thrilling encounter just three days later as Kaizer Chiefs face off against AmaZulu FC in the first match of the second half of the Betway Premiership season.

Amakhosi are determined to bounce back from their loss in the derby, while AmaZulu will be aiming to build on their 1-0 victory over SuperSport United in Durban on Saturday night.

When these two teams met in the first round of the season, Kaizer Chiefs came out on top with a 3-1 win at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban back in September 2024.

Currently, Chiefs sit in 5th place with 21 points from 15 matches, while AmaZulu are in 9th place, having earned 19 points from the same number of games.

Injury Updates and Team Changes for Amakhosi
Kaizer Chiefs will be without Njabulo Blom, who picked up his fourth yellow card of the season in the derby and will serve a one-match suspension. Additionally, George Matlou will miss the match due to a minor injury.

With the three new signings in January—Thabo Cele, Glody Lilepo, and Tashreeq Morris—all set to make their first starts for the club, coach Nasreddine Nabi has made six changes to the starting lineup for the third consecutive match.

Blom, Samkelo Zwane, Thatayaone Ditlhokwe, Sibongiseni Mthethwa, George Matlou, and Ranga Chivaviro will all be replaced by Bradley Cross, Reeve Frosler, Yusuf Maart, Thabo Cele, Tashreeq Morris, and Glody Lilepo.

Amakhosi will shift to a 4-4-2 formation for this clash, with Bruce Bvuma retaining his spot as the goalkeeper.

Starting Lineups:
For Kaizer Chiefs, the defense will see Cross on the left, Rushwin Dortley and Miguel Inacio at center-back, and Frosler on the right. In midfield, Cele will partner with Maart, while Pule Mmodi and Mduduzi Shabalala will occupy the wings. Up front, the new duo of Lilepo and Morris will lead the attack, with Maart serving as captain.

AmaZulu, under the co-coaching duo of Arthur Zwane and Vusumuzi Vilakazi, will feature goalkeeper Ofori, with Jooste, Mobara, Mphahlele (captain), Hanamub, and Fielies forming the defense. In midfield, Motshwari, Ekstein, and Kambindu will play key roles, with Moremi and Human leading the attack.

Match Details
The match will be officiated by Siyabulela Qunta, with assistant referees Happy Nhlanhla and Khamusi Razwimisani, and Cindy Ndlala as the fourth official. Fans can follow the game live on SuperSport’s PSL Channel 202 on DStv and on various SABC radio stations.
