Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly eyeing a new transfer target, hoping to compete with Orlando Pirates for the signature of a promising player. There are also updates regarding Bhengu’s potential return to the club.

Khanyi: A Transfer Battle Between Chiefs and Pirates
Muzomuhle Khanyi, a 25-year-old striker, has been turning heads in the NFD with his impressive goal-scoring form. He recently scored a hat-trick, boosting his reputation as one of the most promising and affordable players on the market. Despite Orlando Pirates having strong forward options like Tshegofatso Mabasa and Evidence Makgopa, Kaizer Chiefs are also interested in securing Khanyi, proving there’s always room for another talented striker.

Serero Close to Joining Cape Town City
Former Bafana Bafana midfielder Thulani Serero is a free agent and is reportedly on the verge of signing with Cape Town City. Chiefs fans have been hopeful that the experienced player, known for his time at Ajax Amsterdam and FC Twente, could join their side to strengthen the midfield. Serero, with 43 caps for South Africa, has had a distinguished career in Europe and the UAE.

What Could Have Been for Serero
It’s unfortunate that Serero never quite reached his full potential for the national team. Despite earning 43 caps, a player of his talent and European experience should have had a greater impact on Bafana Bafana. While disciplinary issues played a role in his career, it’s not uncommon for highly talented players to face such challenges.

Bhengu Set for Chiefs Return?
According to SoccerLaduma, Kaizer Chiefs are interested in bringing back former player Lungelo Bhengu. The 24-year-old defender, who was released by Chiefs in 2019 and joined Maritzburg, is seen as an upgrade to current right-back options like Reeve Frosler and Dillan Solomons. Bhengu’s return could also pave the way for Njabulo Blom to move back to his preferred central midfield role. However, it’s expected that bringing Bhengu back would come at a significant cost.
