Kaizer Chiefs defender Rushwin Dortley has been sidelined for the remainder of the season following knee surgery, dealing a major blow to both the club and his international aspirations.
Impressive Debut Season Cut Short
The 22-year-old former Cape Town Spurs center-back made an instant impact at AmaKhosi, featuring in 18 league matches and winning over fans with his physicality and sharp decision-making. His performances also earned him a Bafana Bafana call-up, making his debut for the national team on September 6.
With Dortley out, Given Msimango has stepped up in his place, conceding just one goal in two matches since taking over the starting role.
Although no official return date has been set, Dortley is expected to be out for at least six months, putting his hopes of making the AFCON squad in serious doubt.

Du Preez Secures New Deal, Matlou Faces Uncertain Future
In other squad updates, Kaizer Chiefs have extended striker Ashley Du Preez’s contract for another two years. Meanwhile, midfielder George Matlou finds himself in a crucial battle for his future at the club.
A source revealed that Matlou’s performances in the remaining games of the season will determine whether he is offered a contract extension.
“The club understands that injuries have disrupted his progress, but now it’s up to him to prove his worth,” the source said.
With just three months left on his current deal, Matlou has the option to sign a pre-contract with another club, but whether he will take that route remains to be seen. Chiefs’ management is still evaluating his role in the squad before making a final decision.
