Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has reaffirmed his commitment to the club despite their 1-0 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday.

The 59-year-old Tunisian coach, who took over at Chiefs in July from AS FAR, has faced a mixed start to his tenure but insists he’s staying put.

β€œI’m not here for the money. I sometimes get offers that are three times what I’m earning here, but I love this club and the project it represents. It’s tough when you’re criticized by your colleagues,” Nabi said after the Sundowns game.

Despite the third loss to Sundowns under his leadership, Nabi remained positive about his players’ efforts.

β€œWe leave this game with some regrets,” he acknowledged. β€œWe feel we created enough opportunities and had more control in the second half. But in football, you have to score. Based on our performance, we deserved a draw,” he added.

With 11 matches remaining in the season, Nabi is confident that Kaizer Chiefs will finish strong.

β€œWe know we’ve lost points today, but we need to regroup and push for the next game,” he said. β€œWhat’s important is the progress of the players over the season. Our position on the log doesn’t reflect our performance, but it’s a temporary situation, and I’m confident we’ll finish higher.”

It was reported last month that Nabi had turned down an offer to coach the Tunisian national team to remain with Kaizer Chiefs.
