Kaizer Chiefs have been closely tracking Tanzanian international Feisal Salum ever since head coach Nasreddine Nabi took charge at the club.
Reunion on the Cards?
Salum and Nabi previously enjoyed a successful partnership at Young Africans, securing multiple trophies, including back-to-back league titles. However, before the 2023/24 season, both went their separate ways—Salum joined Azam FC, while Nabi briefly moved to AS FAR Rabat before taking over at Amakhosi.
Initially, Azam FC was unwilling to let go of their prized midfielder, rejecting Chiefs’ approach in January. However, Rwandan journalist Eric Ndagijimana now reports that the Tanzanian club is open to negotiating a transfer.
Salum’s Contract Situation Boosts Chiefs’ Chances
Salum’s future at Azam FC remains uncertain after he reportedly turned down a contract extension. The versatile playmaker, who was a standout performer in the Tanzanian Premier League—finishing as the second-highest goal scorer—appears ready for a new challenge.
According to Africafoot.com, the midfielder has made his stance clear.
“Feisal Salum has informed the club that he will not extend his contract,” the report stated. “While he enjoys playing for Azam, he is keen to explore new opportunities at the end of the season. A move to Kaizer Chiefs? It’s too early to confirm, but it’s a strong possibility.”
