Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates target Vuyo Letlapa is attracting serious interest from Europe, particularly from French Ligue 1 club OGC Nice, who have reportedly submitted a R20 million bid for the Sekhukhune United star.
While it remains uncertain whether either of the Soweto giants will match this offer, both clubs are in need of a left-back, which could make the decision difficult for Letlapa, potentially keeping him in South Africa for the time being.
βLocal clubs have shown interest, with Orlando Pirates believed to be leading the race, but it now seems that OGC Nice is in pole position,β Soccer Laduma reported. βThey are close to finalizing the deal. As weβve mentioned before, European interest has been strong.β
R20 Million Price Tag
When asked about the specifics of the deal, the source revealed, βSekhukhune United is asking for R20 million for Vuyo.β
This price might be a hurdle for both Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs, as they could find it challenging to match.
As part of the deal, Sekhukhune is reportedly including a 30% sell-on clause. “If Nice eventually sells Vuyo, Sekhukhune United will receive 30% of that transfer fee,β the source added. “Thatβs why theyβve set the asking price at R20 million.”
The 21-year-old has been pivotal in Sekhukhune Unitedβs push for a top finish in the CAF Confederation Cup this season. They are currently one point behind third-placed Stellenbosch, with one game left to decide their fate.
