Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates may be disappointed to hear that one of their key transfer targets is heading to France.

Vuyo Letlapa Set for Ligue 1 Move

According to Soccer-Laduma, Sekhukhune United left-back Vuyo Letlapa is on the verge of a move to Ligue 1 side OGC Nice. The 21-year-old has impressed this season with 22 league appearances and four assists to his name.

While both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates were reportedly interested in the talented defender, it now looks like Nice is leading the race to sign him. A source revealed that the French club is nearing a deal to secure Letlapa’s services.

β€œThere has been interest from local teams, with Pirates believed to be at the front of the queue. However, OGC Nice is now the frontrunner and is very close to finalizing the move,” said the source.

The deal is expected to be worth R20 million, with Sekhukhune United also securing a 30% sell-on clause, similar to the agreement made with Elias Mokwana’s transfer to Esperance de Tunis. This means that if Nice sells Letlapa in the future, Sekhukhune will receive 30% of the proceeds.

Neo Mokoena Joins Pirates Training

Meanwhile, Soccer Laduma reports that teenage winger Neo Mokoena has joined Orlando Pirates’ first team in training. Although he is unlikely to feature in the upcoming Nedbank Cup final against Kaizer Chiefs, Mokoena is a highly rated talent, with expectations high for his future at the club. He’ll be looking to follow in the footsteps of Mbekezeli Mbokazi, who has quickly established himself as a key figure in the Pirates defense.
