Relebohile Mofokeng might still be just 20 years old, but it’s no secret that his talent could eventually take him beyond Orlando Pirates. That’s why talk of a possible successor is starting to pop up—crazy as it sounds, considering Rele is still in the early stages of his career.

But there’s a name Pirates fans might want to remember: Rethabile Ramontoeli. According to a source close to the club, this young attacker is already drawing comparisons to Mofokeng. “He’s the next Relebohile Mofokeng, I can promise you,” the source told Soccer Laduma. That’s high praise for someone who’s only recently made his name known.

Ramontoeli made a big impression at the 2025 Pirates Cup and was spotted by former Bucs player James Mothibi while playing in Bloemfontein. Since then, he’s been climbing the ranks quickly, and it seems like it’s just a matter of time before he’s making headlines regularly.

Meanwhile, Mofokeng himself is already looking like a seasoned pro. He’s featured in 41 matches this season across all competitions, notching up 10 goals and 13 assists—incredible numbers for a player who only recently left his teenage years behind.

As for Pirates, there’s another big prize within reach. If they can get past Pyramids in Egypt in their CAF Champions League semi-final second leg, they’ll be just two games away from a possible R75 million payday and continental glory. But it won’t be easy, with either Mamelodi Sundowns or Al Ahly waiting in the final.

The present is exciting, and the future might be even brighter—especially if Ramontoeli lives up to the hype.
